Jamie Ashby Update

Laser Tools’ sponsored Jamie Ashby races in the HEL Performance Motostar British Championship; this British Superbike support series continues to produce the UK's upcoming talent with the series open to both Moto3 and 125cc machines.

The recent event at Knockhill in Scotland (July 4/5) was a challenge to both teams and riders with severe storms for much of the Friday night badly damaging the circuit which resulted in essential track resurfacing. The circuit was great at working through the rain and at night to get it repaired but delays were announced which pushed the race schedule back.

This led to the Motostar class qualifying sessions being cancelled and the grid positions were established from the Friday practice results. This made for a really long day on the Saturday and Jamie's race was not until 6.50 in the evening.

This was unfortunate for Jamie as he was running in his rebuilt engine and changes made the bike different to set up; therefore it was not set right for qualifying and they did not have a second qualifying due to the weather.

He finished 7th in race one and 10th in race two after their class was rushed out early when the race before was red flagged and then delayed as the rain started — everyone had to change to wet wheels on the grid. The weather was both wet and dry during the race and Jamie was not comfortable with the bike so struggled quite a bit with the handling.

Now as the season is in full swing Jamie is already thinking about how he can improve at Brands Hatch next weekend.
