British Touring Cars Championship

In early 2014, Laser Tools Racing was established with the aim of participating in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) with driver Aiden Moffat. Taking a significant step forward in early 2020, Laser Tools Racing made an exciting announcement about the construction of two brand new Infiniti touring cars for Aiden Moffat and his teammate Ashley Sutton. These remarkable vehicles played a pivotal role in securing the BTCC Drivers' Championship for Ash Sutton in both 2020 and 2021. Additionally, Laser Tools Racing achieved success as a team, clinching the Independent Teams' Championship in both 2020 and 2021, as well as the overall BTCC Teams' Championship in 2021.

Looking ahead to the 2023 season, Laser Tools Racing has formed a partnership with MB Motorsport and acquired the services of BTCC title contender and standout driver, Jake Hill. With a determined focus on capturing the championship title, Laser Tools Racing has embarked on a full-scale assault for the 2023 campaign. Jake Hill will be behind the wheel of the WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport, a combination that proved immensely successful during its debut season last year.

Over the years (especially with the Tool Connection’s continuing commitment to nurture young talent), the Laser Tools Racing stable includes more than just the main BTCC team, and is an important part of the company’s activities.

Lottie Taylor

In early 2023, Lottie Taylor embarked on a formidable challenge by stepping up to the fiercely competitive 125cc youth class, leaving behind her previous endeavours in the smaller 85cc category. This transition meant entering a category primarily designed for competitors aged 15 to 18, presenting a monumental hurdle for the young racer.

As the 2023 season progressed, Lottie found herself in the 14th position in her championship while racing on a Yamaha 125. Despite her best efforts, she felt that progress was elusive on this particular bike. However, a significant turning point occurred when she decided to switch bikes once again, this time moving up to a 250 four-stroke Kawasaki, a change that would define her 2024 season.

The moment Lottie got on the 250 four-stroke, it was clear that this new machine suited her riding style exceptionally well. The smoother power delivery provided her with the control and performance she needed to excel on the track. For the remainder of the 2023 season, Lottie competed on the new bike, showcasing her adaptability and determination.

One of her notable competitions during this period was the UK Girls National held in late September. Remarkably, at just 14 years old, Lottie competed against girls up to the age of 18, demonstrating her fearlessness and commitment to the sport.

Lottie Taylor's journey is a testament to her unwavering determination and resilience as a young female athlete in the predominantly male-dominated and physically demanding world of motorsport. Her dedication continues to astonish and inspire not only those within the racing community but all who follow her remarkable story.

Laser Tools Rally Team - Peter Outram

Laser Tools Rally Team

Driver Peter Outram and co-driver Jemma Outram, with the service crew made up of friends and family members with Anthony Windle, Tim Windle and Mick Munday on the spanners, Dawn and Jodie Outram keeping us fed and watered and cheered along by our biggest fan my grandson Theo Smith. Work on the car is done at home which does take some considerable time keeping the car competitive and reliable and also looking its best every time we turn out.

The car is a class 4 1980 Ford Escort MK2 fitted with a 2.1Duratec engine with Borg Warner T5 gearbox and Atlas disc braked rear axle with a motorsport limited slip diff. The inside of the car bears little resemblance to how it came from the factory with a fully welded roll cage competition bucket seats, 6 point full harness seat belts and plumbed in fire suppression system all inline with the current Motorsport UK regulations.

We are proud to have been supported by Laser Tools for seven years now with some great results where we consistently finish in the top 5 in our class collecting numerous class win trophies, as well as top 10 finishes.
