New EOBD code reader - professional capability at an affordable price

This remarkable new EOBD fault code reader from Warwickshire-based Laser Tools will perform all the usual EOBD functions that we have come to expect from the modern hand-held code readers plus a number of very useful additional features normally only found on much more expensive tools.

As well as accessing and reading fault codes, the 5091 will also display the meaning of any P0 fault codes shown. It can also display the meaning of the manufacturer-specific P1 codes when that information is known, and the list of manufacturer-specific codes is comprehensive, with Jaguar, Lamborghini and Ferrari listed for example, plus all the American brands. Truly impressive! It will also clear the EOBD generated codes thus resetting the MIL light.

Many modern cars are equipped with numerous control modules other than the basic powertrain module; adaptive damping, climate control, and the transmission are examples. The Laser 5091 will identify these modules and allow access, a function normally only found in high-end fault code readers.

The Live Data function is extremely useful when diagnosing faults letting the user see exactly what the EOBD system is monitoring in real time. This data can be recorded to help diagnose those frustrating intermittent driveability problems; there are two methods of triggering this recording — by the operator or automatically when a fault code is detected. Examples of the live data monitoring include: engine RPM, vehicle speed, inlet air temperature, Lambda sensors (both state and signal), throttle position, engine temperature, ignition advance, Mass Air Flow reading, etc.

The internal battery allows access to the saved data off the vehicle, which enables another very useful feature: the Laser 5091’s ability to connect to your PC or laptop where it can be updated (using ‘Laserlink’ software downloaded from Laser’s website) and test results can be uploaded for analysis and printing — and the USB cable is supplied in the box.
