New engine timing tool and flywheel locking kits for the 5.0 Jaguar & Land Rover V8 engines

Thursday 12 July 2018

Designed by Laser Tools and manufactured at their facility in Sheffield, these new engine timing tool and flywheel locking kits (part numbers 7051 and 7059) are for the post-2010 5.0 litre V8 petrol engines used across the Jaguar and Land Rover ranges. Jaguar applications include Jaguar F-Type, XF, XFR/S, XJ, XJR, XK8 and XKR. Land Rover applications include the Discovery 4, Discovery, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. Engine codes: AJ-133/508PS and AJ-133/508PN.

The 7051 kit provides the required timing tools to lock the camshafts and crankshaft in their timed positions —  this 7-piece kit includes timing tools for the camshaft and crankshaft and also includes the special camshaft turning tools with the required tensioning wrench.

The 7059 flywheel locking tool set locks the flywheel of the engines listed when removing or replacing the front pulley bolt. It is designed to fit into the starter motor aperture, locates onto the flywheel ring gear and then is secured with the starter motor fixing bolts. Two different tools are normally required for the two engine code applications but the 7059 has been designed to combine both variants into one tool.

Everything that is needed to set the engine as recommended by the manufacturer — the starting point must always be the initial set up (or timing) — accuracy is critical and technicians or even the home mechanic carrying out repairs that require disruption of the engine timing, need to be sure that they have a safe and effective method of resetting to the manufacturer’s specification.

The 7051 engine timing tool kit is available now from your Laser Tools stockist.
