Volkswagen / Audi 4 link suspension top pinch bolt removal drift

Thursday 03 July 2014
The Volkswagen / Audi 4 link suspension top pinch bolt is notoriously difficult to remove — because of the lack of space under the front wing and the angle of attack, there is not enough room for an ordinary 10mm drift. Laser Tools to the rescue with this new specialist drift designed for the job (part number 5863).

To be used with an air chisel or vibrating air hammer, the removal operation is in three stages, first stage moves the bolt by 15mm, the second stage moves it a further 35mm, then the last stage drifts out the pinch bolt. Supplied with a guide bush to ensure straight operation of the drift and prevent any damage to the threaded end of the bolt.

An engineered solution to what is often a very awkward job. Suitable for Audi A4, A6 and certain VW Passat models, the tool is supplied with full instructions.
